Summit offers glimpse into future of materials

Faculty, researchers, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students came together to explore interdisciplinary advances in materials science and engineering Sept. 22 at the 2025 MUMSEI Materials Summit and Poster Session. 

The summit highlighted MUMSEI’s role in fostering collaboration across disciplines and training the next generation of materials scientists. With a strong focus on sustainability, advanced manufacturing and functional materials, the event exemplified the synergy between research, innovation and education within the Mizzou community.

Over 25 postdoctoral and graduate students showcased research projects across physics, chemistry, engineering and biomedical sciences. Topics ranged from battery material characterization, sensor innovation and 3D printing, to AI applications in materials modeling.
